Mallinson Vineyard and Winery

After Michael got done with work on the start of a long weekend, we decided to go visit a local winery. I decided that we should go to Mallinson Vineyard. This winery is surrounded by trees and the vineyard. We had been here once back in 2019 and have always wanted to go back but life happens and it was not until 2023 when we came back.

We walk up to the tasting room and we each order 4 wines to taste. So, we ended up getting to try all their wines except for their dessert wine, Renegade. We remembered only two of their wines from the last time Enticement and their Norton. Enticement is a sweet rosé that is soft and fruity that really hits the spot and is a rare find in Missouri. When the rosé is good, we always will buy. Funny enough when we went the first time, we got this wine and heard the owner talk about it. He chatted about his process of naming the wine and of taste testing if the wine he made is good by bringing in a bunch of people to his cellar. One first taster, said “he could get lucky with this wine.” So hence the name Enticement.

Back to this outing, we liked all the wine they had this time. Our favorites being Enticement (again), Ravishing, and Norton, all which we got bottles to take home. Ravishing is a smoky red wine and I thought would be perfect for sitting around our firepit later this fall. Michael and I were very happy about their Norton cause some of the wineries we’ve been going to have had a poor harvest of Norton and the taste has been so lacking. The owner last time told us that his Norton is the best Norton around. Well, we tried it with one of the other Nortons we liked back in the day from Belvoir Winery. We liked Belvoir at the time.

Once our tasting was over, we got a bottle of Enticement to enjoy on their patio. Lizzy explored the patio by crawling around and finding her toys in a little tent to play with. While she enjoyed her time, Michael and I analyzed Enticement in our journals. We struggled on the aroma and tastes we knew it was fruity but couldn’t quite identify what fruit it might be, we think maybe strawberry. Michael and I did rate this wine probably the highest in overall tasting experience with a ten. We also bought two bottles to take home. Lizzy the ever curious noticed that they were lighting a fire in their outside fireplace and hurriedly crawled over to watch the progress. I ended up chatting with the workers and they talked about the various events happening at the winery. They also took our picture at the winery and posted it on their Facebook.

We left hoping it would not be years later until we visited this winery again because it really is pretty and the wine is great.
