What is "Winery Chic"?

Any time Michael and I go to a winery we debate what to wear. Do we wear something comfortable; do we wear something nice, but not too nice? It sometimes depends on what we are going to do before or even afterwards. After visiting a few different wineries, we realized how other visitors were dressed and deemed that the best way to dress is winery chic.
Now a quick Google search will give you this definition of winery chic (source):
“Women will likely want to wear a dress or dress slacks with heels or nice flats, while men can opt for slacks and a jacket or sport coat (without a tie). Think sophisticated and elegant, not urban or flashy, and you'll be fine.”
This style is something you would probably find in the Napa Valley wine country, but for the Midwest wineries, if Michael and I dressed like that it'd be almost too fancy. Even some of the other wineries we have gone to in Kentucky, Upper New York state, and Tennessee, this type of dress would also be too fancy. So, Michael and I have come up with our own definition. Most of the time we wear a nice pair of jeans just paired with various nice tops depending on season. Though it also depends on if we are going to an event at the winery. If it is a dinner we might dress up to the theme, or if it is a Sunday in fall (also known as football season) we will wear our Kansas City Chiefs shirts. Of course if I have a t-shirt or long-sleeve shirt from the winery I will wear that as I get complimented by the bartenders for being “a walking billboard.”
Spring & Summer: I might wear a summer dress paired with a plain tan sneakers or sandals. Or might wear jeans with a nice short sleeve shirt. Sometimes I will wear shorts paired with a matching cute tank top. Michael might wear a short sleeve shirt paired with shorts that match.
Fall: Michael and I would wear nice plaid shirts. I would sometimes wear a nice shirt with a cardigan paired with it and light brown boots.
Winter: Depending on how much winter feels like being winter (read: Cold). Both Michael and I have nice sweaters that we would wear. Michael will wear a nice long-sleeve shirt.
